Pure Veg and Jain Food for Family Events: What to Ask Your Venue

By Shree Villa & Resort26 September 20262 min read

Hosting a family function where food rules matter? Here is what to ask a venue about pure vegetarian, Jain and satvik food before you book.

For many families, food at a function is not just about taste — it is about faith, tradition and the comfort of the elders. If your family follows pure vegetarian or Jain food rules, it is worth asking the right questions before you book a venue.

01Is the whole kitchen vegetarian?

A venue that "offers veg food" is not the same as a pure vegetarian kitchen. Ask:

  • Is non-vegetarian food ever cooked on the premises?
  • Can outside guests bring non-veg food onto the property?

Shree Villa & Resort is a 100% pure vegetarian property — non-vegetarian food is not permitted anywhere on the estate.

02Jain food: how much notice is needed?

Jain meals need care — no onion, garlic or root vegetables, and often specific timings. Ask the venue:

  • How many days' notice do they need?
  • Can Jain and regular veg dishes be served side by side?
  • Can meals be served before sunset if needed?

At Shree Villa, Jain food arrangements can be discussed in advance so every member of the family can eat with peace of mind.

03Satvik and simple home-style food

For religious functions, pujas or family gatherings with elders, simple satvik food is often preferred. Ask whether the kitchen can prepare lighter, home-style dishes alongside the main menu.

04What about alcohol?

If your family prefers an alcohol-free celebration, choose a venue where that is the rule for everyone — not just your booking. Shree Villa is an alcohol-free property, which keeps the atmosphere comfortable for every generation.

05Questions to ask before you finalise

  1. Is the kitchen 100% vegetarian?
  2. How much notice is needed for Jain meals?
  3. Can we see a sample menu?
  4. Are there any outside-food rules?
  5. Is the property alcohol-free?
